Peachtree Canyon offers 72 one-bedroom units, 60 two-bedroom units, and 12 three-bedroom units. Amenities include pickleball courts, swimming pools, playgrounds and a community building.
The development of Peachtree Canyon Apartments is the largest government-backed project meant to increase the supply of affordable housing in Las Cruces. Located on Las Cruces’ far east side, near Mesa Middle School, on the corner of Peachtree Hills and Jornada Road in the Metro Verde community. The complex has 144 income and rent restricted units serving a demographic of working family households with children. The location is ideal for families being located within walking distance of new elementary and middle schools. The project will have a total of 100% of the restricted units below 60% AMI and will give preference to active and retired military and will be smoke free. There will be 6 residential dwelling buildings and 1 clubhouse. This structure marks the entry to the site and establishes the character of the community. The frontage area of the site bordering Peachtree Hills Road has been designed for a future bus stop. The clubhouse will include a community room, computer center, management offices, and adjacent pool.
There is 6 three-story buildings containing one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The total building area will be approximately 119,984 square feet. The residential units are comprised of 72 one-bedroom units; 54 two-bedroom units and 18 three-bedroom units. The gross square feet in each size unit are: one-bedroom unit 617; two-bedroom unit 965; three-bedroom unit 1,150. Outdoor amenities will include bicycle racks, covered gathering spaces with fire pits, benches and tables, BBQ areas, age-appropriate playgrounds, garden areas, walking paths, and EV charging stations. Buildings on the site are organized around the green open space. This urban open space complements the open unbounded space of the desert surrounding the site. The design of the project presages the oncoming urbanization of the surrounding area and attempts to fit within both the current natural setting and the forthcoming built environment of the city.
